Customer Tip For Our Wool Rugs
We had a customer, Ellen, come into the store who purchased a 2′x3′ wool rug. A couple of weeks after she took her new beautiful find home we recieved the following email from her: “Just thought you might like to know what I did with that beautiful bird rug I purchased for my kitchen. I purchased some of that no-skid backing for carpet and sewed it (with carpet thread) onto the back. Then I purchased Scotchgard for carpets (not upholstery) and sprayed it on so it would repel dirt and stains better. It looks perfectly beautiful and I have no worries of the rug sliding on the ceramic floor or of dirt and stains spoiling it. I just have to remember to reapply the Scotchgard every 6 months for maximum effectiveness. You may want to pass this information on to others who want to purchase those small woolen rugs”. We are so happy that Ellen shared this wonderful tip with us and we are able to pass on her wisdom. We have some beautiful rugs in the store and online, if we don’t have what you’re looking for email us and we will see if we can find it for you.

In 1982, The Wellness Community was founded by Dr. Harold Benjamin in Santa Monica, California. Dr. Benjamin created a program of psychosocial support that was widely recognized as a leader in the field. Benjamin’s colleague, Joanna Bull, encouraged her client, comedian Gilda Radner, to attend The Wellness Community in Santa Monica while Gilda was living with ovarian cancer. In her book, “It’s Always Something”, Gilda shared extensively about her experiences at The Wellness Community.Gilda and her husband, Gene Wilder commuted between the east and west coasts, and she often lamented there was nothing like The Wellness Community in the east. After her death, Wilder and his friends Joel Siegel and Mandy Patinkin set out to fulfill Gilda’s wish that “no one should face cancer alone.” In 1991 they reached out to Joanna Bull, who came to New York City and created the Gilda’s Club program and opened the first Clubhouse in New York City.During our combined 45-year history, Gilda’s Club Worldwide and The Wellness Community have made a positive difference for people affected by cancer. Both organizations have established solid reputations in the cancer community and share an unwavering commitment to excellence and integrity. Gilda’s Club Worldwide and The Wellness Community shared a vision where all people affected by cancer have access to the highest quality psychosocial care. Most importantly, it is a vision which recognizes that family and friends are also affected when there is a cancer diagnosis. As a united organization, our vision remains the same – to offer support to all people with all types of cancer, as well as their families and friends, so that no one has to face cancer alone.

This is my daughter-in-law’s story in the words of her husband (my son) Matt: “We were fortunate to learn through genetic testing before Rhonda got it (breast cancer) that she had about an 87% chance of getting it – it wasn’t whether she would get it, but when. So we were given the choice to deal with it before she got it. Many people don’t have that choice and are left to fight for their lives. Tragically, many times its too late. While treatment options and early detection methods like the genetic testing that we had done are getting better, these options and that testing would have never been available to us without research. And now government funding of cancer research and direct care is way down, and will only drop further for the foreseeable future. Obviously, private support of cancer research and treatment is now more critically important than ever before. Please join us in supporting Cancer Research/Testing/Education”.
You’ll get to see our fun shop, fill in your Pampered Chef Collection, enjoy refreshments, maybe even win a prize…and all for a wonderful cause! If you can come in you can purchase Pampered Chef and still have a % of your purchase go to American Cancer Society and the Ronald McDonald House. pamperedchef.biz/jenngeorge Name: Snowbird Cottage.
